Learning Objectives

Upon completion of the activity, the learner should be able to:

  1. Identify patients who are surgical candidates for canthopexy versus canthoplasty as part of a rejuvenative blepharoplasty procedure. 
  2. Evaluate lower eyelid laxity and mid-facial anatomy during surgical planning for lower eyelid rejuvenation.
  3. Select appropriate methods of lower eyelid support for patients undergoing lower eyelid rejuvenation.
  4. Incorporate the steps of lower eyelid support procedures as part of a complete aesthetic lower eyelid surgery.
  5. Describe adjunctive procedures that assist in lower eyelid support during recuperation.

Target Audience

Practitioners in the field of cosmetic surgery including, but not limited to, dermatology, general surgery, and plastic/reconstructive surgery.

About the Speakers

Paul Denton, MD, FRCSC, FAACS is an Oculoplastic and Cosmetic Surgeon with over 15 years of experience. He completed a fellowship in Oculoplastic Surgery at McGill University, followed by a second fellowship in Facial and General Cosmetic Surgery through the AACS. He currently practices in Vancouver, Canada, and serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia, where he actively contributes to the training of residents in both plastic surgery and ophthalmology.

Brett Kotlus

Brett Kotlus MD, MS, FAACS is a cosmetic oculofacial plastic surgeon practicing in NYC.  He is a past trustee of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, and a Fellow of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery and the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
