About the Speakers
Wilbur Hah, MD, MBA, FAACS, has a background in banking with MBA in finance almost 40 years ago before attending medical school. He is triple board certified in otolaryngology/head and neck surgery, facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, and cosmetic surgery. He also served for eight years in the additional role of Chief Financial Officer for a multispecialty group while maintaining a very busy practice. In addition to formal financial training with work experience, Dr Hah will share financial decisions that made money, but more importantly, those that lost money over his career. Dr Hah is a past President of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery. Along with Alton Ingram MD, JD, MBA, he cofounded the Cosmetic Surgery Patient Safety and BBL Safety programs for the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery.
He is most grateful for having performed 10,000 surgical procedures over a 30-year private practice in Southeast Texas. He and his wife physician, Dr. Marian Chen-Hah just retired this year. Dr Hah performed his last surgical procedure in Texas on his 60th birthday. He has a strong interest in cosmetic surgery patient safety topics. Dr Hah is also currently serving as an expert witness in defending 15 different cosmetic surgery malpractice cases. He also recently served as the expert witness for Colorado District Attorney office where defendant plastic surgeon had to serve jail time and community service for conviction of criminal charges of negligent homicide. Dr Hah is also a designated Cosmetic Surgery Expert Case reviewer for the Texas Medical Board. He has reviewed over 70 Medical Board Complaints made against Plastic, Facial Plastic, Cosmetic, and other surgeons in last 10 years.
Alton Ingram, MD, JD, MBA, FAACS, is a fellow and trustee of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and a former trustee of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery. He is a graduate of Yale University and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
He assisted Dr. Wilbur Hah with the establishment of the Board's Cosmetic Surgery Patient Safety Initiative and its BBL Safety Certification. Dr. Ingram worked for five years at a plaintiff-side law firm in the 2010s where he specialized in medical malpractice, faulty medical device, and civil rights litigation.
In addition, he is Section Editor of The American Journal of Cosmetic Surgery, and a member of the Editorial Board of Modern Research in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is an examiner for the written and oral boards in cosmetic surgery and facial cosmetic surgery. He is the only cosmetic surgeon on staff at Nashville General Hospital, where he provides free reconstructive surgery to those who need it most.
