Description

This session will focus on best practices in Brazilian Butt Lift surgery. It will emphasize patient safety and cosmetic outcomes, will present new data regarding the safety of this procedure, and will provide attendees with an update on the changing regulatory environment, particularly regarding the integration of ultrasound in BBL surgery.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of the activity, the learner should be able to:

  1.  Identify the controllable risk factors during BBL surgery.
  2.  Describe how to integrate ultrasound into their BBL practices.
  3.  Understand recent regulatory changes regarding BBL safety.
  4.  Implement best practices regarding both patient safety and cosmetic outcomes in BBL surgery.

About the Speaker

Alton Ingram is a double board-certified plastic and cosmetic surgeon in Nashville, TN. He is a summa cum laude graduate of Yale University, completed medical school and a plastic surgery residency at the University of Texas, and is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law. He is a former fellow of Professor Ivo Pitanguy in Rio de Janeiro Brazil and of Dr. Paul Tessier at the University of Paris, France, two visionaries in cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery, respectively.

Dr. Ingram is a trustee of the America Board of Cosmetic Surgery and an oral and written Board examiner for the Cosmetic Surgery and Facial Cosmetic Surgery Boards.

He is a member of the education committee of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and serves as section editor of the American Journal of Cosmetic Surgery as well as being a member of the editorial board of two other peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. Ingram frequently publishes and lectures internationally regarding patient safety, surgical technology, and surgical techniques of the breast, body, and face. He is the co-founder with Dr. Wilbur Hah of the ABCS Cosmetic Surgery Patient Safety Initiative and frequently participates as a legal expert in medical matters. He was recently the keynote speaker at the Fourth International  Conference on Surgery and Anesthesia in Dubai, UAE, where he also was on the organizing committee and lectured on cosmetic surgery patient safety.
