Eyelash transplantation is a rare procedure that requires skill and patience and it is also a fascinating use of hair transplantation that can be transformative for those patients who need it.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of the activity, the learner should be able to:

  1. Assess patient suitability for an eyelash transplant. Identify risks and benefits of eyelash surgery.
  2. Compare how this surgery is different from and similar to other hair transplant surgeries.
  3. Implement changes needed to perform eyelash transplant at one’s own practice.

Practitioners in the field of cosmetic surgery including, but not limited to, dermatology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, otolaryngology, general surgery, ophthalmology, and plastic/reconstructive surgery.

About the Speaker

Sara Wasserbauer, MD, FISHRS is Past-President of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery, an AMA member, and a Fellow of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS). She is currently serving on the Board of Governors for the ISHRS and is an avid proponent of education and collegiality among hair surgeons.

Located outside of San Francisco, in Walnut Creek, CA, Dr. Wasserbauer has several consult offices around the Bay Area, where she encourages visitors (so she can treat them to homemade gelato while quizzing them with her latest hair-related trivia and Board Exam questions).
