Deep Plane Face Lift | WebClinic 2023

This WebClinic was recorded live on May 24, 2023, and is approximately 60 minutes.

Topic:  Deep Plane Face Lift
Speaker:  J. Kevin Duplechain, MD, FAACS, FACS
Moderator:  Tanuj Nakra, MD, FAACS

Deep plane face lift has been in existence for over 50 years. First introduced by Tord Skoog, and popularized by Sam Hamra, this technique of face lift was the first major change in face lift techniques when introduced over 50 years ago. Better understanding of the principals of vector and tension have significantly improved the outcomes of this procedure, making it the most desired and requested face lift currently being performed. The underlying principles of anatomic preservation make this procedure very safe and reliable. Significant attention to the details of the anatomic transition points and danger zones will be discussed. Complementary procedures, including facial fat grafting and simultaneous laser skin resurfacing, will be covered as well.

Learning Objectives

  1. Discuss the  pertinent key anatomic structures in deep plane face lift
  2. Explain the sequential steps in performing a deep plane face lift
  3. Describe the surgical steps, including subplatysmal neck and face lift surgery
  4. Recognize danger zones and techniques to manage these specific areas of concern.
