Target Audience

Practitioners in the field of cosmetic surgery including, but not limited to, dermatology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, otolaryngology, general surgery, ophthalmology, and plastic/reconstructive surgery.

Learning Objectives

  1. Define the practical surgical anatomy of the brow, forehead, and upper face.
  2. Assess approaches to brow lifting, including internal lifting, direct lifting, coronal and endoscopic supraciliary approaches.
  3. Identify nuances that can enhance healing, symmetry, and aesthetic outcomes in brow lift surgery.

Speaker

Tanuj Nakra, MD, FACS

Dr. Nakra is a double board-certified facial & ophthalmic plastic surgeon. After residency and fellowship training at the University of California – Los Angeles, he served on the UCLA faculty and established a private practice in Beverly Hills and in Santa Barbara. Due to the reputation of TOC Eye and Face in Austin, he moved to join TOC in 2008. He has been recognized as a Top Doctor by Austin Monthly, Texas Monthly, Castle Connolly, and Who’s Who in Medicine annually since 2012.

Dr. Nakra is committed to education and serves on the Clinical Faculty of the Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin, and is a Fellowship Director in Facial Cosmetic Surgery for the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. He has been an invited keynote speaker at major conferences around the world, training other surgeons in the latest techniques, including his own signature cosmetic procedures. Dr. Nakra has authored over 45 peer-reviewed scientific articles and has multiple ongoing grant-supported research projects in the field of reconstructive and cosmetic facial surgery. In the past, he has served on the Executive Committee of the American Board of Facial Cosmetic Surgery, as a Board Member of the Cosmetic Surgery Foundation, and as the President of the Austin Ophthalmological Society.

Born in London, England, Dr. Nakra was educated at Washington University in St. Louis, Rush Medical College in Chicago, and UCLA. His scientific expertise and vast experience in facial aesthetics led to his co-founding of Global Beauty Science Inc., which recently launched its flagship brand, AVYA Skincare.

Dr. Nakra has many interests outside medicine, including a passion for the fine arts and music.  He is an avid runner and recently completed the Austin Marathon.  He and his wife are long-time supporters of Ballet Austin and the Center for Child Protection. His favorite pastime is spending time cooking or hiking with his wife, two children, and their rescue dog.
